FETICHE (2)

Fetish is another name for mascot.

Nenette and Rintintin, after Francisque Poulbot's illustrations, are the best known and were home made most of the time. They were sent to the soldiers on the battlefield by their wife and family members.

Stefania Lazarka developed a particular line of tiny fetiches made of silk and fine wool.

She also trademarked the name "Mascotte" in 1921. Some of her dolls are found with this Mascotte label, as well as her boudoir dolls and boudoir dolls heads.

Many cloth dolls makers gave the name of fetish and mascot to some of their production after WW1, such as La Nicette dolls, Gerb's, Venus and Raynal for the best known.
